A site-specific sound installation in a vaulted stone basement in the Old Town of Bern, where darkness and acoustics form the primary conditions of perception. The work is based on field recordings of cicadas made on Sardinia, which were edited and processed into a cyclical sound composition.
The sound is played inside a rotating tubular object that directs it into the space. As it moves, the sound shifts: it approaches and recedes, creating the impression of a moving, unstable source.
In the darkness, the object emits a soft glow and becomes a point of visual orientation. Visitors descend into the basement space, gradually adapt to the darkness, and begin to navigate through listening. The installation proposes a slowed mode of perception, where sound, movement, and light converge into a single situation, and natural and technical elements are experienced as one continuous field.
