Exit is a photographic installation in the pedestrian tunnel on Marktgasse in Bern, temporarily created during the renovation of the Kaiserhaus building. Installed as a large-scale collage along a 35-metre passage, the work is designed to be experienced in motion, through peripheral vision.
The image system operates as a field of repetitions, shifts, and visual rhythms stretched across the tunnel’s architecture. Scale and density are calibrated to pedestrian movement, producing a fragmented and unstable mode of perception.
Situated in Bern’s historic city centre, the tunnel interrupts the continuous rhythm of arcades and pedestrian flows. The work engages with the condition of the “non-place” (Marc Augé), where space loses stable identity and becomes pure passage. It reflects the artist’s interest in rethinking public space as a site of interruption, attention, and alternative ways of experiencing the city.
